The Pangasinan State University, led by University President Elbert M. Galas, warmly welcomed Undersecretary Sancho A. Mabborang of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) on his February 17 visit for the presentation and consultation of the establishment of the Salt (Asin) Research and Development Center.

Following the visit of the DOST team on the proposal on the establishment of Center earlier this year, Usec. Mabborang together with the DOST Region 1 officials led by OIC-Regional Director Teresita A. Tabaog , joined the PSU Research team on the discussion of the project held at the Golden Lion Hotel.

Usec. Mabborang extended his support while commending PSU for coming up with this innovative project considering the contribution of the DOST under its NICER Program.

“This project should be prioritized. If the PSU is ready, we will give a special schedule for a meeting para mauna nang maipasok [materialize] si Asin [Salt R&D Center]. Habang wala pa, you may start with crafting your timeline and other documents needed. I like the concept that you integrate, technology, engineering, and even the culture for this project,” Usec Mabborang added.

The meeting was also joined virtually by collaborating agencies and other State Universities and Colleges.

Meanwhile, PSU President Galas together with the OIC Vice-President for REIGn Dr. Razeale Resultay, expressed their wholehearted gratitude for the visit and beneficial suggestions and recommendations given by the DOST Officials.
The PSU team also assured a full compliance on the requirements and other processes needed by the DOST for the success of the Salt R&D Center.

Program leader Engr. Rex Basuil, directors, unit and center heads of the REIGn Division attended physically and virtually to show their support and contribution for this transformative project of the University.
