The Pangasinan State University has proven once again, that when it comes to taste, it is hands-down world-class!

The PSU – College of Tourism and Hospitality Management, representing the Philippine Team, bagged the third highest award at the Food Hotel Asia (FHA) Culinary Challenge as part of the Singapore Expo 2022 slated from September 5-8.

PSU’s main competitor, Prof. Leoncio F. Barlan, Jr. of the CTHM, stood out in the Individual Challenge of the Culinary Art Display Category on Tapas/Finger Food, and clinched the Bronze award.

The FHA Culinary Challenge is a culinary showdown among best-of-class chefs in a series of thematic challenges. It is an arena for culinary talents from around the world to display their skills and be accredited by a panel of internationally acclaimed judges recognized by the World Association of Chefs’ Societies (WorldChefs). showdown amongst best-of-class chefs in a series of thematic.

University President Dr. Dexter R. Buted, who served as the PSU Team coach, said joining the international contest on the feast of gastronomic experiences was a laudable feat for the PSU team and winning the third highest award is an added bonus.

“The Expo is also one way to celebrate the rich food culture of the participating countries and honor the creativity of culinary talents. Once again, our PSUnians shone and roared,” Dr, Buted said.

The PSU-Philippine Team delegates include: newly designated Dean of CTHM Prof. Jerry L. Ceballos, Jr, Director of the Presidential Liaison and Management Office Dr. Billy Festijo and Chief Administration Officer Dr. Ian Evangelista who headed the benchmarking activities of the PSU delegation in several Hospitality and Tourism Schools in Singapore.

The PSU Team also had the opportunity to bond with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr, during the Chief Executive’s state visit to Singapore.
