To keep abreast on the updates of various circulars promulgated by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Pangasinan State University officials, along with other representatives of State Universities and Colleges (SUCS) in Region I, participated in a one-day orientation on February 3.

Regional Director Ria Bansigan of DBM in Region 1 started with the presentation of the updates on learning service providers and subject matter experts to the SUC representatives who gathered at the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-North La Union Campus (DMMMSU-NLUC) that served as the host venue.

Main topics of the orientation focused on National Budget Circular (NBC) No. 589 or the Revised Organization and Staffing Standards for State Universities and Colleges (SUCS) as discussed by Director Gerald Janda of DBM’s OPCC Bureau.
Meanwhile, NBC 461 or the Re-classification of Faculty Positions of SUCs and other Organization and Compensation Issues was presented by DBM’s Senior Budget and Management Specialist Mr. Michael Glenn Amor.

PSU President Dr. Ebert M. Galas said the event is timely and necessary to achieve a more coordinated and integrated system of higher education.

“With this, PSU can be assured that we are updated with the basis of SUCs in establishing and modifying our respective organizational structure and staffing pattern to better cater to the academic community,” Dr. Galas said.

Other officials who attended include OIC-Vice President for Research, Extension, Innovation and Gender and Development Dr. Razeale Resultay, Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Ian Evangelista, Human Resource Director Dr. Loren Echalar and Unit Head for Recruitment, Selection and Promotion Ms. Teresita Mamaril.

PSU Officials also had a chat with Dr. Jaime Manuel, president of DMMMSU, who welcomed the participants.
