In pursuit of molding and recognizing exemplary students, the Pangasinan State Univeristy held its Public Forum on Gawad Parangal sa Mga Natatanging Mag-Aaral 2022 at the Dr. Telesforo N. Boquiren Convention Hall Lingayen-Main Campus recently.

The Gawad Parangal, initiated by University President Dr. Dexter R. Buted and led by the Vice President for Students and Alumni Affairs Dr. Manolito C. Manuel and his team, aims to demonstrate the university’s commitment to the studentry.

It capitalizes on inspiring students to realize their full potential in all facets of their lives.
The Forum’s objective is to assess the ability on critical thinking and public speaking of the Gawad Parangal Finalists which will make up 20% of the total score or rating that is used to determine rankings.

Students from each campuses: Jessa Marie Cabalbag of Alaminos; Maria Ronalyn L. Nonan of Asingan; John Darry C Malicdem of Bayambang; Adriane C Dela Cruz of Binmaley; Russel M. Mose of Infanta; Brisha Eryka Faye F. Recto of Lingayen; Meryll C Castro of San Carlos; Ariane L Pader of Sta. Maria; and Aljohn C Tomeldan of Urdaneta showcased their skills as they delivered their answers.

A panel of judges from PSU and various external institutions carefully evaluated the finalists by asking them five sets of questions. The judges include Dr. Evangeline Pescador, Dr. Christia Marie Flores, Ms. Jesille Viernes, Retired Philippine Army Col. Ramil Palisoc, Ms. April Bravo of PIA, and Hon. Andrea Cruz of Mangatarem, Pangasinan.

As gleaned from the Forum, PSUnians embody the Core Values of the university which are Accountability and Transparency, Credibility and Integrity, Competence and Commitment to Achieve, Excellence in Service Delivery, Social and Environmental Responsiveness, and Spirituality.

The awarding ceremony for the Gawad Parangal is slated on August 26 at the PSU Main Campus.
