Nursing students from Pangasinan State University (PSU) Bayambang Campus gathered at the Dr. Telesforo N. Boquiran Convention Hall for the 12th Capping, Pinning and Candle Lighting ceremony on October 14, 2022.

With the theme “Reigning the Nightingale’s Spirit For Today’s Frontliners of Tomorrow,” the Institute of Nursing of PSU Bayambang Campus conducted the annual ceremony for future Nightingales.

A total of ninety-three nursing students attended the program donning their white uniforms full of excitement for the placement of caps and lighting of candles.

The future nurses marched on the red carpet side-by-side their proud parents and guardians.
University President Dr. Dexter R. Buted emphasized in his speech the significance of the caps and pins that represent responsibility and the lamp which means light. He believes that these will guide them towards the path of nursing practice with pride and humility.

“I strongly encourage you, our dear students to continue pressing forward for the profession you intend to fulfill. Be bold, be courageous, and be your best as you take your future career path…Seize every learning opportunity that is given to you, you never know, it may be the bridge towards a successful future,” Dr. Buted said.

The University President also applauded the future nurses of PSU for standing bravely to answer the call of serving humanity as statistics shows scarcity of six (6) million nurses needed worldwide according to World Health Organization (WHO). “This only means that the world needs more heroes,” he added.

“My dear future nurses, your PSU family would love to see you write your own life story. We have sufficiently equipped you with tools and life hacks that you will need as you advance to the reality of this world of nursing profession,” Dr. Buted said.
Bayambang Campus Executive Director Dr. Liza Quimson and Nursing Dean Dr. Cielo Fernandez also gave their warm wishes to the students.

A thanksgiving mass officiated by Fr. Matt Jason John Molina of the Virgen Dela Medalla Milagrosa Parish set off the program proper. To conclude the ceremony, Nursing students prepared a song number and handed red roses to their parents to show appreciation of their support and hardwork.
