Forging a stronger academic community in the region, Pangasinan State University hosted a benchmarking meeting with Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-North La Union Campus (DMMMSU-NLUC) on April 22 at PSU’s Main Office.

VP for Academic & Student Affairs Office, Dr. Manolito C. Manuel; VP for Administration and Linkages, Dr. Elbert M. Galas; VP for Planning & Finance Management Office, Dr. Maria Corazon B. Puzon; VP for Quality Assurance Office / QMR, Dr. Marcelo C. Gutierrez, Jr. and other university officials welcomed DMMMSU-NLUC delegates headed by Chancellor Junifer Rey E. Tabafunda represented by Ms. Judilyn Sanchez, Human Resourcce Management Officer.

DMMMSU’s benchmarking activity capitalized on the institution’s student services, administrative services, library, and MIS services, specifically, these units’ processes, systems, SOPs, and practices.

PSU prides itself on the best practices reflected in its Quality Management System (QMS) manual that encapsulates the micro and macro-level process maps of various units; this forms part of the university’s robust quality assurance mechanisms being firmly monitored and enforced by the Quality Assurance Office.

Led by University President, Dr. Dexter R. Buted, PSU embraces the culture of quality grounded in the establishment of its QA Office in 2015 as a unit and then launched as a separate division in 2019.

“The institutionalization of Quality Assurance Office is crucial in ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of University operations; this and the adherence to local and international accrediting bodies that led to the attainment of PSU’s most prestigious award yet,” Dr. Galas said.

The delegates visited the offices/units: Admission, Housing, Alumni, Sports, NSTP, Cultural, Internalization, Medical and Dental, Auxillary, Security, Finance, Supply/Procurement, HRMDO/Records, Libray, and MIS Services.

Since it achieved the most-coveted PQA Level III: Mastery in Quality Management in November 2021, PSU, led by DRB’s resolute initiative, has become the center point of benchmarking opportunities and mileages for other educational institutions across the country in boosting their system processes and people management.
