Amidst the challenges faced by students in the resumption of face-to-face learning modality, the Pangasinan State University provided a mechanism to help ease their burden.
Road bicycles, donated by Senator Pia Cayetano to PSU, were distributed to the nine campuses of the University for the availment of qualified students.

In a ceremony held at the Dr. Telesforo N. Boquiren Convention Hall on September 14, Campus Executive Directors of Alaminos, Asingan, Bayambang, BInmaley, Infanta, Lingayen, San Carlos, Sta. Maria and Urdaneta campuses, received the bicycles from University President Dr. Dexter R. Buted.

Dr. Buted was accompanied by Dr. Manolito C. Manuel, the Vice-President for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Celeste Mercado, the Director for Student Services and Alumni Affairs Office and Dr. Billy Festijo, the Director for Presidential Management and Liaison Office.

“The distribution of road bikes to qualified students is one of the institution’s answer to universal access to quality education. It reduces the burden on the student particularly transportation expenses especially that oil price and fare expenses hiked drastically in this post-pandemic period,” Dr. Buted said.

The University President added that the initiative will not only help reduce the cost of education but also promote a healthy lifestyle among the students. Guidelines will be issued to the recipients, he said.

Dr. Buted and the student-recipients went on to thank Sen. Pia Cayetano, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Youth, Women and Family, for her continuous support to the university and to the youth.

More than an academic institution, PSU imbibes a culture of generosity to those who are in dire need of help.
