Pangasinan State University and the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine
Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOSTPCIEERD) met via Zoom on January 5 to conduct the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing of the newly approved Institutional Development Plan (IDP) entitled “Solid Freedom Fabrication Research Laboratory”(SoFFreL).
Present at the said MOA signing were the University Officials headed by Dr. Dexter R. Buted, the Vice President for Research, Extension and Innovation, Dr. Paulo V. Cenas, Dr. Larry A. Santos, Director for Research Development Office and Prof. Francis Albert T. Argente, Director for Extension Services along with Dr. Enrico C. Paringit – DOST PCIEERD Executive Director, and Glenda Dorcas Sacbibit – PCIEERD Supervising Science Research Specialist, Human Resource and Institution Development Division (HRIDD).
Under the leadership of Dr. Paulo V. Cenas, SoFFreL is a project initiated by Engr. Rex B. Basuel funded by DOST-PCIEERD which aims to provide facilities for concept modeling, prototyping, rapid tooling, and digital manufacturing. Said laboratory is the 3rd 3D Printing Laboratory in Philippines and the 1st in Region 1 to employ 3D printing in Metalcraft fabrication. (PSU Echoes, Vol XX No.2).
