Fostering a cohesive workplace culture, the Public Relations, Publication, and Information Office (PRPIO), PSUโ€™s information and communication arm, engaged in a two-day staff development activity on June 7-8, 2022, in Iba, Zambales.

Anchored in upskilling capabilities and upholding workforce unity, the activity convened PRPIO Main Office staff and campus coordinators, the Office of the Vice President for Administration and Linkages team, and select active social media page administrators.

Dr. Elbert M. Galas, VP for Administration and Linkages, foregrounded the unitโ€™s initiative to facilitate an effective staff development practice, saying, “This activity is a manifestation of your commitment to improve your system processes mandated in your office.”

The PRPIO-spearheaded event hallmarks two fundamental topics in the unitโ€™s operations, featuring the local media industryโ€™s pride journalists, PIA-Ilocos Norteโ€™s Information Center Manager, Ma. Joreina Therese A. Blanco on “Digital Designing and Branding and Effective Social Media Engagement,” and Philippine Daily Inquirerโ€™s award-winning photojournalist, Wilfredo Lomibao on “Professional Photography using DSLR Camera and Cellphone.”

Participants in featured sessions presented their outputs and underwent critiquing. They are expected to apply the learned techniques in capturing photographs and managing their campus pages to maximize audience engagement.

The secret to a successful team hinges on collaboration, and PSUโ€™s tenet, โ€œWe are better together,โ€ reverberates a strong emphasis on the power of โ€˜we.’

Thus, the staff development activities entrenched core collaboration and communication skills, promoting positive dynamics and a systematic approach to problem-solving.

The fun-filled and meaningful activities on Day 1 capped off through the symbolic solidarity night, where the team shared dinner at one table as one family within an organization.

Day 2 accorded the workforce an avenue to loosen up and partake in a dialogue with Dr. Galas for possible concerns and suggestions; it also served as a platform for discussing forward-looking directions.

Hitting the homestretch, the closing activity enthralled the team to an awe-enchanting total immersion in nature as they visited the historical and picturesque Anawangin Cove in San Antonio, Zambales.

As an Investors in People Gold awardee, PSU, with its visionary President Dr. Dexter R. Buted at the helm, stands as a paragon of excellence in people management, exemplified in its world-class best practices in assessing, evaluating, and responding to the needs of its people as a key factor in quality service delivery to stakeholders in turn.
